Pettaugh
History
Society
In history, as in life, truth is everything.
Our first book “Pettaugh Preserved” has now been published and was launched to great acclaim in July 2009 at the Meadow Fair at St Catherine’s Church, Pettaugh.
The 64 page book is a collection of around 120 photographs, with captions, showing life in the small Suffolk rural village of Pettaugh.
The book encompasses the years between 1930-1960 when tremendous changes were taking place in both the countryside and the country as a whole.

Future publications
“Pettaugh Preserved” is intended to be the first of a series of books describing the life and times in Pettaugh and the surrounding villages.
Future books may include more detailed accounts of events and characters that made up the history and way of life here.
There is much to tell.
Despite being a quiet backwater, Pettaugh had it’s share of strong wills and ego’s that brought argument and conflict to a small village.
In due course much more will be revealed.
